Roadtrip

Okay, try packing a 10 day roadtrip into 4 days... it is nuts!!!!
California girls, traveling around California.
We each were like mini tour guides for our areas.

Day one:
Darci drives from Trabuco Canyon (Mission Viejo)
up to Redondo Beach (Los Angeles-Beach Cities).
I hop in the car and we drive 7ish hours to Orangevale (Sacramento).
Along the way we discovered thousands of cattle and strange smells.
Also a new Quiznos that we thought we were lucky to find.. but it turns out that new restaurants in the middle of nowhere have no experience!
The employees were a little slow and confused in every way!
The quick stop ended up slowing us down.
Finally got to our college graduate Kayci's house
Said hello, changed our clothes and went to the

Sacramento Rivercats and the Albuquerque Isotopes game.

We had pretty good seats!

After the game we went to a cute little ice cream place and then talked a bit
before we all three laid across the bed with our legs hanging off the end. :)

Day two:
Got ready for the day and headed out to Fairfield where the...

 Jelly Belly Factory is!

We got to see how the jelly belly beans and other candies/gummies are made.
We tasted some of the different stages of jelly bellys
and got a free bag and hat!!

Ever wonder how is every single Jelly Belly made so perfectly shaped?
Well,
THEY AREN'T!
There are some that aren't made right!
The batches of jelly beans go through various filters
that filter out ones that are too small and too big.
Theeen they package them up and call them
Belly Flops!
And they are still all delicious!

From there we made a small stop at a olive oil tasting place we saw
where we ended up getting lots of information from
Rambling Randy about how olive oil is

good for your health...check out these results!
And a Treasure Island pit stop on the way to San Francisco

Pier 39

Alcatraz

Of course we did the Alcatraz Audio Tour!!!

The utility corridor part of how Frank Morris, John Anglin
and Clarence Anglin escaped in June 1962

Jim Albright, The Last Guard Out

After the island we saw a bit of the city...

I just loved the buildings..

There are looooots of hills. and the famous Lombard street.

And immediately,
back on the road!

And back on to the stinky 5...

We got to my house around 2:30am to end a very long day.
and we got to sleep in separate beds :)
all ready for us thanks to my sweet mama
who even woke up and came in and said welcome and good night!

Day three:
Sleep
in.
...even though my body woke me up earlier then I wanted
and we all woke up simultaneously after...
Eat, and throw on our swimsuits (just in case!) and then off to Santa Monica!
We walked around Third Street Promenade and the Pier,
watched a few little shows of break dancing,
ate some kettle corn,
New York Trapeze School at the Pier,

aaaand Venice!

Up to Palos Verdes, Malaga Cove, and Rancho Palos Verdes...
Tidepools, lookouts, and Terranea.
Oh the beautiful Pacific.

We ran back to my house, gathered our things
 and headed down to
Dana Point for a bon fire :)

We met some of Darci's friends from Institute and her singles ward
and then crashed at Darci's house back in Trabuco Canyon.
Where we all three sleep across Darci's giant, comfy, blow-up mattress

Day four:
wake up, get ready, eat and go
right out the door to drive down to
San Diego.

The Captain liked how we kept finding
 the whales
and said that we get "brownie points"
.. he seemed to love talking to us..
cracked me up.

first thing we saw was dolphins!
There were tooooons of em.

We even got a few little tricks right by the boat :)

Yeahhhh,
pictures don't do justice.

Of course,
who goes on a boat and doesn't try the
classic Titanic..

whales are prettttyyy big creatures.

We even had a few of the whales to fluke for us!
(when the tail comes up out of the water so beautifully)

And then we went to Lucha Libre's Taco Shop

 featured on Man vs. Food
if you go here you can see the clip from the show :)

This is the one side of the restaurant.. pretty neato huh?!

..such a cool little taco shop..
pretty good food too.

That night we rented
with Clint Eastwood
because well, we were there.
and because Jim Albright told us that was
the most accurate movie of the escape
(minus a few "Hollywood" additions)

I loved it.

and we had Darci's cookies and popcorn.
Yuuuum.
(when we were roommates those were food staples)

Day five:
took our time getting out of the house and drove up to
LAX to drop Kayci off for her flight home up North
and then poor Darci had to drive back home
All in all, it was soooo much fun!
But very exhausting and fast.

the end.
